1

Find the network

Use the search bar to find a chain by name, Chain ID, or token symbol (e.g. BNB, 56, Base, Arbitrum).

2

Check RPC latency (optional)

Click a row to expand it and see live RPC endpoint latency. Pick the fastest RPC for the best experience.

3

Click Add to wallet

Click "Add to wallet" β€” your wallet will show a confirmation popup. If the network already exists, it will simply switch to it.

What is Chainlist?

Chainlist aggregates all EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible blockchain networks in one place. Each network entry contains Chain ID, native token symbol, RPC endpoints, and block explorers β€” sourced from chainid.network, the community-maintained Ethereum chain registry.

Why do you need to add networks manually?

By default, MetaMask only comes with Ethereum pre-configured. To use other networks like BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, or Base, you need to add them manually. Entering an incorrect Chain ID or RPC can put your assets at risk β€” Chainlist ensures accurate data from the canonical source.

What is an RPC endpoint?

An RPC (Remote Procedure Call) endpoint is the server address your wallet uses to communicate with the blockchain β€” sending transactions, reading balances, and checking network state. Each chain has multiple RPCs from different providers. If one RPC is slow or unreliable, you can switch to another in your wallet settings.

⚠ Important notice

Always verify the Chain ID when adding a new network. Attackers sometimes create fake networks with familiar names but different Chain IDs to steal assets. Chainlist uses data from chainid.network β€” reviewed by the Ethereum community.

Frequently asked questions

Is adding a network to MetaMask risky?

Adding a network itself is safe β€” you just need to ensure the Chain ID is correct. The actual risk comes from interacting with malicious contracts on that network afterwards.

Why does RPC matter?

A slow or unstable RPC causes transaction delays, incorrect balance display, or stuck transactions. Choose an RPC with low latency (under 300ms) for the smoothest experience.

What if MetaMask already has the network?

No problem. If the network already exists in your wallet, MetaMask will simply switch to it instead of adding a new entry β€” completely safe.

Which networks does Chainlist support?

All EVM-compatible networks registered on chainid.network β€” including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche, Fantom, and hundreds more.
